It is a well-known fact that vibrations can negatively influence the precision in a machine tool, but poor ventilation can influence the results as well. If you have precision problems in your machine tools, we might have a solution.
Poorly cleaned air from your machine tool might lead to shorter circuits and expensive damage on sensitive control equipment? Oil mist can also cause damage on the inside of the machine. If the machine is not properly vented, oil mist can penetrate bearings and clamping devices and cause problems with the quality of finished products. The machine could even shut down completely resulting in increased costs for both production losses and machine repairs. If you have high costs for maintenance we might have a solution!
An ordinary machine tool can emit 20 liters of oil in a week – just in the form of oil mist. That corresponds to 1200 liters per year. If you have many machine tools in your production and you lack proper oil mist filtration, chances are you can save money on cutting fluid by installing Absolent units. If you believe you have high costs for cutting fluid we might be able to help.
Filter units from Absolent are reliable when it comes to taking care of contaminated air from machining processes. With our filters the machines won’t leak every time the operator opens the doors. The air that has been extracted from the machine is filtered so that 99.97% of the oil mist from inside your processing machine is collected. This means that if you have a grinding machine that emits oil mist, corresponding to 1200 liters of oil per year, only 1 teaspoon would pass through into the ambient air! The filtered cutting fluid is drained out from the filter unit. If you are using neat oil it might be possible to recycle it, either by returning it to the machine or to a central oil cleaning tank. If you are using emulsion or MQL the oil will not leak into the workshop. Wouldn’t that make a huge difference in your cleaning costs, work environment and the well-being in your facility?
Oil mist can be one of the reasons why the employees experience problems with coughing, eczema and occupational asthma. A non-working filter equipment could be the reason for a high sick leave. Maybe you thought it was worse in the old days, when the employees were covered in black dirt, but back then the particles were relatively large and got stuck in the human nose. Today particles are becoming smaller and smaller and the oil mist and smoke emitted is finer than it’s ever been. These particles may therefore easily penetrate our bodies and even our blood stream. If you have problems with high sick leave we might have the solution!
The Absolent filter units make sure that the machine is properly vented at all times. That means that the air flow is always directed away from the operator when the machine doors are opened for inspection. That way the operator is protected against inhaling the dirty oil mist. Once our filter unit has captured the oil mist it won’t let it go before it has been completely cleaned by a HEPA H13 filter cassette with a guaranteed separation efficiency of 99,97% for all particles larger than 0,3 microns. When the air in the workshop is clean the sick leave is reduced while the well-being of the employees increases.
Maybe you are wondering why you need to change the bag filters in your general ventilation so frequently. Or why oil is dripping from the ducts. We know it’s because these filter bags are not made for handling oil mist. There is also a risk of the oil mist effecting the efficiency of the heat exchanger negatively. You may even have to re-heat the air with expensive energy. Energy that could have been nearly free. If you have high costs for your general ventilation, we may have a solution!
An Absolent filter makes sure that your air handling unit and ducts, heat exchangers and coils are kept in good condition. When you install a filter unit from us your issues with poor heat recovery efficiency, high heating costs or vast cleaning costs will be gone. Our filter unit makes sure that no oil mist escape when the operator opens the machine doors. It will also make sure that the air is clean and free from oil mist. The air can then be re-used. That way heated air becomes free energy while, at the same time as the work environment is improved!
Finding ways to continuously improve is important for any company with the environmental management system ISO 14001 to. Is your company compensating poor process filtration with an over-sized general ventilation? If so, the air quality might be acceptable, but it is hardly the most economical solution. We have several ideas on how you can get clean air while decreasing energy consumption. Let us tell you how.
With the help of our software A•saver we can simulate how clean and operationally optimized your manufacturing could be if you invested in a solution from Absolent. By cleaning the air close to the source the filter solution will be far more energy optimized than it would be if you continuously change all the air in the workshop. We perform this simulation completely free of charge and it only takes 15 minutes!
This way it is likely that you have created an environment that is relatively free from oil mist. At least if the filter equipment has enough potential to properly vent the machine tools. However, you probably also created a negative pressure in the building. This may be the case if the door into your workshop feels heavy to open. Even though the air seems clean, it gets drafty and a bit low on oxygen. Wouldn’t it be interesting if you could get both clean air and lower heating costs?
In an Absolent oil mist filter the process air is passing though several filter stages where the last is an HEPA H13. After the filtration the air is clean from oil mist. So why send it out through the wall? Depending on local regulations you can either return the air directly to the premises or send it via a heat exchanger. The negative pressure and its influences on the oxygen content and drafty environment will be minimized. Let us help you use the energy content in the process air and use it where it is needed most. We will help you with project design and guidance and we will do it free of charge.
It can be hard to see the oil mist, especially in environments with dim lightning. There are, of course machine tools that are so air tight that hardly any oil mist leaks out during operation. But what happens when you open the doors of the machine? The oil mist particles are very small, and therefore hardly visible. It sounds like a sales trick, but an oil mist particle is in fact 30 times smaller than a dust particle.
Are you unsure of the conditions in your factory? If the floor is slippery in front of the machine it could be caused by oil mist/oil smoke. Contact an Absolent technician or your closest Absolent representative. We will make a visit, free of charge and help you make measurements to find out if you have oil mist leaking out of your machines. The process is very efficient and easy and afterwards you can be sure of whether you are in need of a filter unit or not. Of course there are many other reasons why you should consider oil mist filtration for your machine tool, but that is another story.
Investing in filtration equipment might feel unnecessary, especially if the staff seems to be satisfied with the situation. Unfortunately, many of the problems caused by oil mist are not noticeable immediately. It may take several years before the symptoms appear. Hardware can always be replaced or repaired, but our advice is; don’t take the risk, try to prevent as much as you can. If you would like to know how a filter installation can save you money, contact Absolent!
Installing an Absolent filter unit is neither expensive nor complicated. We have a wide range of models and we offer many solutions to help you achieve a better environment. Contact us and we will come to you and give you a short presentation regarding what is possible to accomplish with our filter units.
