Designed to solve real industry challenges
AW is a machine-mounted oil mist filter developed for high precision and micro machining. It combines high filter performance with a compact format, low vibration, lightweight construction, Plug & Play installation, and self-draining Catch & Release filters.
The result is a filtration unit designed for machining environments where clean air, uptime, precision, and energy efficiency matter every day. The Red Dot jury recognized this balance between performance, flexibility, and industrial usability.
For Product Design, the jury stated:
“The AW oil mist filtration impresses with its high filter performance and great configuration freedom in a compact, machine-mountable format.”
For Innovative Design, the jury highlighted:
“In addition to efficiency and safety, the AW also prioritises sustainability. Other notable features include near-source extraction and modular adaptability.”
Developed at the Global Innovation Center, Lidköping, Sweden
The AW range was developed at the Global Innovation Center by Absolent Air Care Group.
The project brought together filtration expertise, engineering, product development, customer insight, and industrial design. The project team consisted of Gustav Westbeck, Fredrik Myrberg, Magnus Dalemo, Anders Lunnerhag, Christian Årlid, Anna Martinek-Larsson, Bernt Svensson, Anna Stjärnvy, James Stansfield, and Robert Wiktorén. External industrial design was carried out by Tobias Strålman.
Together, the team created a product that reflects what industrial design should do. Not only improve how a product looks, but how it works, how it is installed, how it is serviced, and how it supports the people using it.
Built for the machine. Designed for the operator.
Many filters promise clean air. But in modern machining, performance is not only about filtration efficiency. It is also about how well the unit fits into the process.
AW was designed with that in mind.
A compact footprint, four connection points, and machine-mounted installation make the unit easy to position and integrate. Quiet operation, low vibration, accessible filter cassettes, and clear monitoring help reduce complexity for operators and maintenance teams.
Every detail has a purpose: stable performance, cleaner air, easier installation, and less maintenance.
See AW at the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen
AW will also be presented physically at the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen, Germany, where visitors can experience selected award-winning products from the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2026.
For us, this recognition is a milestone. But more importantly, it is proof that clean industrial air can be achieved through performance, usability, and design working together.
There are filters. And there is Absolent.
